Vision Therapy / Links

HSA Presentation

What is Vision Therapy?

There is more to Vision than just seeing clearly. Most people believe that glasses, contact lenses, or Laser Surgery will solve all problems with your vision but that is not always the case. Elements such as focusing, eye pointing, and visual-motor coordination are important in your vision. These elements are many times not tested in eye examinations. Most Behavioral Optometrists will test and provide training for difficulties in these areas. Training in these areas is called Vision Therapy ( www.vision-therapy.com).

The need and program for Vision Therapy is diagnosed through a Vision Therapy Evaluation. This is usually additional testing scheduled after a routine eye examination. Accommodation (focusing), binocularity (use of the two eyes together), Oculomotor Skills ( tracking and eye movements), and some Visual-Perceptual skills are evaluated in a Therapy Evaluation. After the evaluation a conference is usually arranged to discuss the results and plan possible therapy visits.
